Hands on Healing Experience
Having worked for over 20 years as a board certified family physician, I've become aware that the biomedical model of Western medicine has significant limitations in addition to some real strengths. The focus in Western medicine is on the physical body, without fully acknowledging the profound impact of our heart, mind, and spirit on our physical well-being. For the past 10 years, I have been studying with Rosalyn Bruyere and Steven Weiss, DO, both gifted healers who practice energy medicine. In this work I have found a deep honoring of all human realms, including spirit. The response of our entire being, including the physical body, can be profound. I now am devoting myself to this work full time. I helped found and worked as the medical director for the Southwest Vermont Medical Center's Integrative Therapies program, which offered hospital patients and community members Reiki, massage, acupuncture, Prepare for Surgery program (visualization), and holistic consults from 2005 to 2008. Integrative medicine weaves the best of complementary and alternative therapies with Western medicine to support the patient.
